Life-Saving, Smart Regulation on Behalf of Patients with Aortic Stenosis | FDA Voice

Life-Saving, Smart Regulation on Behalf of Patients with Aortic Stenosis | FDA Voice: "And today, June 16, FDA approved the Sapien XT, a balloon-expandableTHV, manufactured by Edwards Lifesciences. The Sapien XT is a revised version of their earlier Sapien THV for use in patients with aortic valve stenosis who are either inoperable or at high-risk for open-heart surgery.

The Sapien XT THV uses a smaller profile delivery system than the previously approved Sapien THV. The smaller system helps patients with small or severely diseased vessels. The Sapien XT is also available with an additional, larger-size 29-mm valve, which helps patients with larger-size native aortic valves."

Aortic Valve | STS

Aortic Valve | STS: "The most common cause of aortic valve disease requiring surgery is called "senile aortic calcification," meaning that the valve has worn out with age. When a valve becomes worn, the body deposits calcium on it for reasons that are unknown. The calcium restricts or limits the motion of the valve leaflets. This may prevent the valve from opening (causing stenosis) or closing (causing leakage or regurgitation). Less common causes of aortic valve disease include diseases of the aorta, the main blood vessel coming out of the heart and carrying blood to the rest of the body, including ascending aortic aneurysms, aortic dissection, and Marfan's syndrome."

Parental Alienation and Children Exhibiting Visitation Refusal Behaviour, Part 2 - Our Family Wizard - child custody, parenting time

Parental Alienation and Children Exhibiting Visitation Refusal Behaviour, Part 2 - Our Family Wizard - child custody, parenting time: "Parental alienation can also be a causal factor in self-injuring behaviour in children, including eating disorders. Alienated children are at a high risk of drug and alcohol abuse, they may suffer from mood disorders, have low self esteem, they may be depressed, or anxious or trying to cope with persistent panic attacks and some alienated children have been misdiagnosed as asthmatic.

There are also alienating parents who put their children on medication they do not need. Parents that engage in this behaviour attempt to make it appear (for custody purposes) that the child becomes adversely affected prior to, or shortly after their visitation with the rejected parent. "

When i make may tank, i first do lots, and lots of theoretical experiment and then lots of calculation, and then on working. This work process is adopted from my profession. And i love to do this.

In my personal experience, this is the best process of bracing of the tank. No matter what size it is."

Fix a Bowed Tank by Adding a Braced Frame - YouTube

Fix a Bowed Tank by Adding a Braced Frame - YouTube:

Hi, I enjoyed watching your video and have been grappling with a similar issue. In my case the top trim has been removed. The company that makes this tank may not be around but it looks like Aqueon is similar: Their published dimensions are: 72.5" x 18.5" x 29.5" Mine I have as the same 72.5 (although I recall at the base where the trim was the longest dimension may have been 72 3/8 -While the width at the widest may have been 18 5/8 (accounts for thickness of trim). I t would seem that bow (on a tank as long as 72" or over 6ft should be normal and expected. Bottom line is a filled the tank up about 3" lower then the top. The 1/4 glass brace that "just fit within" got pulled" or slid about a full 1/2 at the very center! The part that stayed in place IMHO opinion did so because it was squarely in place. The other side because of my poor glass cutting skill slid inward exposing most of the what I believe is 1/2" of the glasses thickness. At the sides the measurement across the top is 18 2/8 as I move 6 inches from the side it goes up to 18 3/8 then at the very center (and about three inches in each direction it bows to about 18 5/8 (possibly up to 18 3/4) I know it was never as high a 19 inches. Is it natural and normal to allow for a maximum "bulge or bow" of lets say about 1/2 an inch. I would like to propose this plan: Center Brace cut to actual bowed size: 5" wide by 19 7/8 or whatever it actually is after about 12 hours of sitting there!

Gls Tk Cross Bracing F2

Gls Tk Cross Bracing F2: "t's been a little while. I've got a 135G Oceanic Reef Ready tank (72 x 18 x 24). To my dismay I woke up this morning and found that the large glass center brace had pulled free from the front of the tank and was hanging in the tank (I actually used to have their 150G that is the same dimensions but 4 taller that this happened to. I returned it immediately and got the 135 which I told was more stable).
I've searched your web sight and I think I've pieced together what I need to do, but I had a few more questions before I do this. Wanted to hear your thoughts or if you could let me know if there's a step by step guide for me doing this.

So here's my plan. I've got 6 oz of All Glass Silicone and have purchased two 24 wood clamps. I was take drain about ¼ or 1/3 of the water in the tank (or whatever it takes to get the bowing down). Then I was going to dry and razor clean the brace and the glass where it was attached. Then I'd generously apply the silicon to the brace and clamp it shut (using wood block so I don't damage the tank). Wipe off the excess silicone when I clamp it and wait 24 hours.
<24 hours is generally considered plenty of time for the silicone to cure, but in cases like this I would give it a good two if not three days to make sure it is 100% through.>"

Gls Tk Cross Bracing F2: "hard way, how important that middle brace is, with a 75 or more gallon tempered glass tank....
I have read throughout your site, a multitude of different fixes for this.
Due to the nature of the warped plastic, I do not see my being able to use Weld-on for this.

I would like to get a strong, metal u-bracket to place over this, to give the sides the support they need. I guess my questions are:
1.) should I be considering securing the existing middle brace pieces to the u-bracket in any fashion and/or
2.) what gauge/type of metal should I be looking at that will adequately support the tank, and not bend or give out over time?

Aesthetics are not as important of a factor, but obviously I can't keep my24" c-clamp on their permanently.
Picture attached."

American Rhetoric: Martin Luther King, Jr. --  I've Been to the Mountaintop (April 3 1968): " I got into Memphis. And some began to say the threats, or talk about the threats that were out. What would happen to me from some of our sick white brothers?

Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn't matter with me now, because I've been to the mountaintop.

And I don't mind.

Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!"

And he was acting like he had been robbed and hurt, in order to seize them over there, lure them there for quick and easy seizure. And so the first question that the priest asked -- the first question that the Levite asked was, "If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?" But then the Good Samaritan came by. And he reversed the question: "If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?"

That's the question before you tonight. Not, "If I stop to help the sanitation workers, what will happen to my job. Not, "If I stop to help the sanitation workers what will happen to all of the hours that I usually spend in my office every day and every week as a pastor?" The question is not, "If I stop to help this man in need, what will happen to me?" The question is, "If I do not stop to help the sanitation workers, what will happen to them?" At times we say they were busy going to a church meeting, an ecclesiastical gathering, and they had to get on down to Jerusalem so they wouldn't be late for their meeting. At other times we would speculate that there was a religious law that "One who was engaged in religious ceremonials was not to touch a human body twenty-four hours before the ceremony." South Bay History | The Daily Breeze's Sam Gnerre looks at the way we were in the South Bay | Page 3: "HBJ sent the first shockwaves of outrage through the community when it loaded the park’s star attractions, Orky and Corky the killer whales, onto moving trucks in the late evening of Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1987. The whales were shipped secretly under cover of darkness to Sea World in San Diego, where they arrived at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

That move infuriated the park’s fans and the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council, which had been attempting to work with HBJ on Marineland’s problems. Both felt betrayed by the company’s deceptions"

South Bay History | The Daily Breeze's Sam Gnerre looks at the way we were in the South Bay | Page 3: "But the true corporate villain of this piece didn’t emerge until 1986, when book publisher Harcourt Brace Jovanovich (HBJ) entered the Marineland story. HBJ owned the Sea World theme parks, including the one in San Diego, and had attempted earlier to purchase Marineland’s killer whales Orky and Corky without success.

On Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1986, HBJ purchased Marineland from Warwick for $23.4 million. After the acquisition, it announced that Marineland would continue to be run as normal, with the purchase having little impact on its day-to-day operations.

In reality, the company had made up its mind on a course of action early on, after determining that revamping the park would cost millions more than it was willing to spend."

In this third installment on the park, we’ll take a look at its closure in 1987, a wrenching demise that resulted in sadness, bitterness and a good deal of community outrage.

After its heady days of regularly breaking the 1 million mark in annual attendance in the 1960s, attendance began to drop off later in the decade.

With a couple of exceptions, one being the Ocean Plaza exhibit and the other, the 320-foot Marineland Sky Tower, little had been done to update the park by its original owners. Also, Marineland faced more competition not only from the growing popularity of theme park rivals such as Disneyland, but also, in 1964, from the opening of Sea World in San Diego."

About Being Developed.Org

Being developed.Org may in fact at it's seed level be the quintessential all encompassing statement of it's publisher and inventor Stephen C. Sanders who is now living in the area of upstate New York, in Greene County.

"I have much more to say but first I need to catch up on the world news about yesterday's protest in Paris"- Stephen C. Sanders.

rime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and even Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas found it important enough to stand up to those who would kill the critics of Mohammed to come to the City of Light.
But not President Obama. Even though he has no activities at all on his presidential daily schedule, he is too busy to make time.  (The NFL playoffs are on TV, though.)
The highest-ranking US official is the outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder, a lame duck.

NEW plumbing method for an ULTRA QUIET REEF TANK!!!! LONG !!!! - Reef Central Online Community: "So here is my final setup...........
On the main 1" return bulkhead in the overflow box I have a 1" piece of solid pvc that goes up to approx 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up inside the overflow( glued to the bulkhead). It must be sealed at the bottom or glued. (this is to keep the water IN the overflow box when power is out so you dont flood your sump.) I also have a 1" coupler on top of the pipe so I could insert that perferated pipe so that it is WAY above the water line and capped of so snails and large particles can not clog it.( I have about 10 or 12 inches of perferated tube so it will be next to impossible to stop the flow of water. Anything that will clog this would have clogged a "durso pipe" a long time ago!)
On the 3/4 bulkhead I have the solid tube (glued to the bulkhead) about 1 " below the teeth of the overflow box with a strainer cap on it (or I could have used some of the perferated pipe with a reducer bushing). The return for this goes directly to the sump just above the water line. It will only flow water in the event of a restriction in the main return line..."

Herbie drain in corner overflow - Reef Central Online Community

Herbie drain in corner overflow - Reef Central Online Community: "Going into the sump the siphon side needs to be piped below the water level to be fully silent. The durso side should be piped well above the water level so you will hear if the emergency drain is in use allowing you to correct the issue.

Like rovy said try to be as straight as possible going into the sump
If you don't have durso already build it the next size up from your bulkhead so it would need to be 1 1/4" and then reduced atthe bulk head. the added volume increases flow... This doesn't make a difference on the siphon side since there is no air in the pipe 1" will suffice"

The tank I had at my previous house, I ran a wet dry sump and the water went from main down to a layer of filter media and trickled through the bio balls. The durso was great for the top end of the last tank but what can silence the sump? "

Reefsavvy's Ghost Overflow: Patent Pending? - Reef Central Online Community

Reefsavvy's Ghost Overflow: Patent Pending? - Reef Central Online Community: "The deep notch lowers the internal water level a little too much for my liking but I guess that can be fixed by raising the ghost box a tad. I like this overflow and I personally think Felix makes the best tanks on the planet imo. This method is just a cleaned up bean animal and way more sleek. The whole purpose for the bean is silence and redundancy and felix nailed it in a tight little package. The design still pulls water from the surface, it still implements a full siphon with an emergency and trickle drain and it looks a lot better than that long calfo design. If the calfo was needed for a tank to thrive then I would use it but it's not. Some of the best sps tanks use old fashioned top to bottom overflows with just a herbie and they maintain perfect water quality with no oily buildup at the top."

Reefsavvy's Ghost Overflow: Patent Pending? - Reef Central Online Community: " The Ghost employs a short box with an inordinately deep notch( an attempt at a weir?) that is essentially rendered obsolete by the addition of the slotted teeth covering that is a critical part of the Ghost overflow
*The deep notch lowers the water in the display significantly
*Display water travels through bulkheads instead of just flowing over the weir, eliminating your would-be surface skimming.
*The airline to trigger the open channel into a full siphon is missing?
*And lastly: the Ghost overflow is "patent pending"? I'm loosely familiar with the patent process, as I just filled a PPA of my own, and I'm just curious: How is your Non Provisional patent going to be granted/ hold water on a standpipe design that someone else ( Bean) came up with years ago, and a grossly superior design at that? What is being patented? The removable teeth box? Because if said patent attempt involves any of the standpipe design, If Im not mistaken, even if Bean didn't lock down the utility patent it's still considered prior art. "

Glass Reef - The Basics - Overflow

Glass Reef - The Basics - Overflow: "This one shows the 1/4" tubing for the air inlet on the open channel standpipe. It's not visible in the pic, but the tubing ends about a 1/4" above the normal water level in the overflow box. Should, for whatever reason, the water level in the box rise, the open end of the tube becomes covered with water, which shuts off any air access to the standpipe. This causes the normally open channel standpipe to become a full syphon standpipe. At this point the volume of water that the pipe can handle rises. More water flows down the pipe, which causes the water level in the overflow box to sink. As soon as the water level falls below the end of the 1/4" tubing, air can enter the pipe and it reverts back to its open channel status. In this way the overflow design automatically adjusts itself to changing conditions."

Glass Reef - The Basics - Overflow

Glass Reef - The Basics - Overflow: "a correctly designed and dimensioned overflow box will be very efficient at skimming the water surface in the DT. Surface skimming has a number of advantages. Gas exchange is enhanced, dissolved organics tend to rise to the water's surface and skimming moves them to the sump where they can be filtered out, the scum that collects on the surface is removed and the resultant clean surface allows more light to pass to the corals in the tank."

Vegetable Filters for aquarium filtration

Vegetable Filters for aquarium filtration: "Designing and tuning your own system will depend upon tank sizes and the pump chosen. In any case, in the event of a power outage or pump failure, the maximum water level in the lower tank must be set low enough to absorb the difference between the upper tank level with the pump on and the level with the pump off. With the overflow I have in place, this difference is just about 3/8" in the upper tank, about 1/2" in the lower. The difference is due in part to the positive meniscus in the upper tank. This level is marked on the glass of the lower tank by a tape line. I also mark the normal (lower) operating level with the pump running. When topping up the system during pump operation, this latter (lower) level is the guide. Filling the lower tank above this level could result in overflow during any power failure. This too is critical to the operation of the system."

Three or four years ago Herbie (his UserId on Reef Central) started a thread where he described an overflow utilizing two drain pipes. A year or two later, BeanAnimal (yes, his UserId on Reef Central) made some improvements to the design.

There is a prerequisite to using this design - let's call it the SASO (for silent and safe overflow). The overflow box must be large enough to hold three drain pipes, each of which must be dimensioned correctly for the needs of the system."

Lesson 3: Sedimentation and Flotation

Lesson 3: Sedimentation and Flotation: "Sedimentation can also occur as part of the pretreatment process, where it is known as presedimentation .  Presedimentation can also be called plain sedimentation because the process depends merely on gravity and includes no coagulation and flocculation.  Without coagulation/flocculation, plain sedimentation can remove only coarse suspended matter (such as grit) which will settle rapidly out of the water without the addition of chemicals.  This type of sedimentation typically takes place in a reservoir, grit basin, debris dam, or sand trap at the beginning of the treatment process.  "

Vegetable Filters for aquarium filtration

Vegetable Filters for aquarium filtration: "These W/D overflow units skim off the water surface layer and move the skimmed water outside the tank by siphons. The Vortex unit does not skim the surface. Outside the tank the units incorporates a standpipe (adjustable in the Vortex), commonly prefiltered by a sponge (not in the Vortex, but it may be added if kept clean by frequent rinsing - another valuable pollution export technique), to drop water to a lower level. Some overflows are crenellated, that is, they have squared notches around the skimmer rim. Others have smooth flat rims. I see little functional difference between the two overflow types. They maintain the water level at least at the level of the overflow rim or of the standpipe. When additional water is pumped into the tank from a sump, the water level rises to overflow (hence the name) into the surface-skimming unit. The steady state operation with water being pumped into the tank will have an upper tank level slightly above the rim of the overflow or standpipe (i.e., will show a positive meniscus)."

Vegetable Filters for aquarium filtration

Vegetable Filters for aquarium filtration: "Such tanks can still have the benefits of being planted, even without having plants in the tank at all. Have you ever heard of the concept of a refugium? In short, this is merely providing a refuge where the plants (or whatever) can live, separate from the display specimen and thus are protected by this separation, but with water exchange between the two areas. There can be several benefits here - not only having the positive effects of healthy plants on the water, but also simply by increasing the water volume. Remember that the solution to pollution is dilution. A number of public aquaria use this effect for some displays, adding a second linked tank to the public display tank to conceal equipment and to increase the operating water volume."

Vegetable Filters for aquarium filtration

Vegetable Filters for aquarium filtration: "They absorb minerals including some metabolic waste products from the water, converting these into plant mass. So may be considered a form of biofiltration. The other mineral ions that they absorb and use could be considered a form of chemical filtration. During their lighted period they adsorb carbon dioxide (CO2), produce oxygen (O2) and submerse plants release that into the water, so are also a form of aeration."

What do the numbers stand for? 215/70R15 - AutoPedia Bulletin Board System

What do the numbers stand for? 215/70R15 - AutoPedia Bulletin Board System: "A further breakdown:
215 - width. Wider usually means better handling; narrower usually means better economy and snow traction.

70 - a ratio for tallness of the tires, from donut hole to tread. Higher numbers usually mean better rides or can soak up more rough road shock. Lower means less side-to-side play and better handling.

15 - smaller wheels take less energy to keep going. Biggers wheels soak up bumps better."

What do the numbers stand for? 215/70R15 - AutoPedia Bulletin Board System

What do the numbers stand for? 215/70R15 - AutoPedia Bulletin Board System: "
Secret tire decoder ring:
For a "P215/70R15":

"P" is for Passenger tire and indicates that the size and load information is generated by the Tire & Rim Association of America. "LT" is light truck in T&RA. If there is no letter before the numbers start, it is usually under the auspices of the European Tire and Rim Technical Organization (ETRTO).

"215" is the nominal section in mm at 70% rim width. So, ideally, if that tire is mounted on a rim that is 70% of 215 mm, that tire would be 215 mm wide.

"70" is the aspect ratio of the section height. Such that the design section height of the tire is 70% of the nominal section.

"R" is for Radial tire (can also be "D" for bias, don't ask me why).

"15" is the diameter of the rim."

NEW!: 200 Gallon Eurobrace tank - Cyphos.com

NEW!: 200 Gallon Eurobrace tank - Cyphos.com: " I decided to jump on Craigslist and see what was stirring. Not long I came across a title that said "Custom 220 gallon aquarium". Now I like to see custom aquariums as I like to compare and get ideas. Well, this wasnt the case as I picked up the phone and immediately called the individual. He told me he still had the tank.

Jumped in my car and drove the 30-40 mins to the sellers house. Got there and after seeing the tank, the decision was quickly made. I came back today with some muscle for the move home (Thank you Ralph for all the help, stop lurking the site already).

I was told by my friend that owns a local fish store (he stopped by to check it out), that the tank is a custom Lee Mar tank. At first I thought it was rimless (sorry Carcinoma, misinformation) but it is a eurobrace. The tank measures 69"L x 22"W x 30"H. With a huge overflow on one of the sides. The tank was previously used as a reef tank and the individual had it viewable from both sides."

About - BeanAnimal's Bar and Grill

About - BeanAnimal's Bar and Grill: "Many people have stopped using science and logic to form well thought out arguments. Instead, they offer unsubstantiated opinion (many times agressively) as an alternative to fact. That would be fine, but they have no desire or intention to prove that opinion with fact and instead take great offense to having that opinion disproved by fact. When I grew up, having opinion discredited by fact was called learning!
The act of shouting down facts with unsubstantiated opinion is regarded as a right by many people. We hear things like "lets agree to disagree" or "stop bashing his opinion" or "everybody is entitled to an opinion". What has been lost is the simple fact that in many of these arguments, there is most certainly a right and wrong. It follows that not all opinions are good opinions and not all opinions are valid opinions, they are, well, just opinions. "

BeanAnimal's Bar and Grill - Silent and Fail-Safe Overflow System

BeanAnimal's Bar and Grill - Silent and Fail-Safe Overflow System: "Research has shown that the thinner the sheet of water traveling over the overflow weir, the more protein rich the water is. Put simply, the organics in the tank like to bond to the surface tension of the water at the air/water interface. The faster we renew this thin layer of surface water and transport it to the sump, the better the skimmer will perform. "

I"m going to make an external cost to cost overflow for my 72x24x30.
I can think of 3 ways to do this.
1.) Cut a 1/2 inch out of the back (72") pannel. Stick the overflow to the back.
2.) Drill 1.5" holes along the top of the back pannel. Stick the overflow to the back.
3.) Add 1/2 inch to the 3 other sides of the tank. (making it a 30.5 inch tall) Stick the overflow to the back.

The end results would be the same, but what method should I use?"

How to notch back glass for ext. overflow? - Reef Central Online Community

How to notch back glass for ext. overflow? - Reef Central Online Community: "Should I even bother with a fence or teeth? I hear the a flat skimming surface for overflows is best anyway. I could always leave the trim over the top of the overflow to make it more of a slot than an open overflow. Maybe that'd work better. It'd only be maybe 1/2" tall. Obviously fish could get in sideways, but they'll find a way if they want to anyway. What say you, people of RC? "

cutting glass notch - Do It Yourself - Nano-Reef.com Forums: "You can use the diamond cut off wheel with a dremel to do this. The diamond wheel eats through the glass pretty quick, just remember to keep a steady hand and let the bit do the work, stop and let the bit cool off often.

Hard to see but I did this on a 5 gallon nano, then added a glass external overflow box."

The Answer to this is:

A fish tank which measures 72 inches long x 18 inches wide x 27 inches high holds how many gallons of water?

72 x 18 x 27 = 34,992 cubic inches-

Then convert to a different unit of volume- US Gallons- ask Google:

How many gallons is 34,992 cubic inches?

Answer = 151.481 Or- it's a 150 Gallon Aquarium:

Now someone obviously wanted to either have a Reef Tank or at least use a sump pump or some true over-flow method of filtration!

Yet when they looked at the label on the tank's bottom they read: "Tempered Glass" do not drill!

So they removed the trim and cut a notch 22 1/2 inches wide going down 2 inches from the top edge of the aquarium.

So:

Consider if the entire upper two inches of water were drained from the tank because of this 22.5 inch by two inch notch - how much water would drain from the tank:

Given: 72 x 18 x 27 = 151 US Gallons

How many US Gallons is 72 x 18 x 2 (the entire upper two inches of water)...

2,592 cubic inches ... Ask google or do the math!

11.222 US Gallons:

So an ideal  "Overflow Box should be able to hold at say about 12 gallons (better a little extra than not enough)...

A 15 Gall0n Tank has the following dimensions:

 24.3" x 12.5" x 12.8"

So, lets take a 15 Gallon Tank, remove one of the wide sides and slap it on to the tank where the "Notch" is cut!

3 Pieces of Equipment You Should NEVER Use

3 Pieces of Equipment You Should NEVER Use: "#1: Hang on the Back (HOB) Overflow Boxes

HOB overflow boxes came about so people with non reef-ready tanks (tanks that are not drilled) could use a sump. HOB overflows work by creating a syphon to draw water over the top of your tank and then down into your sump. When the syphon breaks, then your return pump in your sump pumps all the water in your sump into your tank, causing an overflow."

Center brace replacement - Capital Cichlid Association Forums: " Easiest thing on smaller tanks is to replace the broken frame. For larger tanks, I have seen people fabricate a bracket that fits across the top of the tank that is "U" shaped (although the 2 parallel sides are only an inch or two long). Others have used epoxy to "glue" an acrylic rod to the glass on the inside of the tank to provide the support."

I apparently inherited sump-one's unfinished project: - Capital Cichlid Association Forums: "It sounds like what needs to be done is for a three sided box to be glued over the "notch," with dimensions about 2-3" larger than the notch in all directions.

At the bottom of the box, you would put in some bulkheads, which would run into a sump filter, as well as allowing your returns to pass through. This is done with some custom tanks because the overflow style is rather quiet. In theory, you could also extend the height, put bio-balls and media in it, and skip the sump, but ... I'd worry about the weight. "
